Built area: 20,000 square meters / 96 Luxury hotel rooms

In a corner lot, between the Khan Theater and the Scottish Church, hidden behind thick vegetation is an Ottoman citadel characterized by a flying buttress. The hotel project was built around the citadel in two separate wings, centering the focus to the citadel while exposing it to the street.

Following a concept of layers to the city we added a system of arches and barrels to the street level working as a mediator between the public and the project, inviting people in to the depths of the project. At the first floor, the level of the citadel, we created additional public spaces, allowing the visitor to enjoy views of the city and the historical buildings. As a third layer we added two hotel structures. Our idea is to combine hospitality, the public realm and commerce as a thriving backdrop to the adjacent historical structures in the site.
